Miyabi Birchwood SG2 knives are the embodiment of beauty, crafted with the finest materials available and hand-finished by master artisans in Seki, Japan. The beautiful flower Damascus pattern on the blade elegantly exposes 101 layers of steel, 50 on either side of the blade (101 including the core). Sandwiched between these layers is an SG2 micro-carbide powder steel core; one of the highest performing steels on the market. The blades are ice hardened in the CRYODUR process; creating a 63 Rockwell hardness. Adorned with a traditional D-shaped style handle made from Karelian Birchwood with an intricate mosaic pin, accented with two red spacers and an engraved end cap. Karelian Birchwood holds a place as a prized knife handle material as well as being the only wood ever used to craft a Faberge egg. Made in Japan.
