Using wood planks when cooking has been around for centuries. In the Pacific Northwest Native Americans would grill fish and game on wood planks, infusing rich flavors into meats. This set contains 1 plank of each wood- cedar, hickory, white oak, cherry, alder and maple. Before use, pre-soak the plank for about 1 hour, preheat the grill to 350° and rub olive oil on the side of the plank where the food will rest. Directions are included. Each plank measures 12 X 5.25 X .25-inch.
Cedar planks can be used for all meats, poultry & fish but best for when grilling salmon. Hickory is ideal for grilling ribs, lamb, pork, beef and bacon. White oak may be used for all types of meats, fish, poultry; oak is not powerful so you will preserve the flavor & taste of the meat you are grilling. Cherry planks are similar to apple providing a sweet taste to the food and is best used for poultry. Maple also adds a sweeter flavor and ideal for poultry & turkey. Alder planks are a great choice when grilling poultry, chicken & turkey.
