The Wusthof Diamond Sharpening Steel aligns your knife edge unlike traditional steels. Diamond Steels contain fine abrasives that sharpen your knife as well as re-aligning the blade. Works as a traditional honing steel, the diamond steel is very fine. A honing steel is a necessity to keep your knife blades maintained. Knives will lose there "bite" or sharpness after regular use if you do not maintain the edge. Using a honing steel regularly will prevent a dull blade and extend the life of your knife.
