Shun 17 Slot Angled Knife Block

This piece is elegant and perfect for my knife collection. There are enough large knife slots for a variety of larger blades. The slots are laid out well so the knife handles do not touch each other. The slot for the kitchen scissors is on the bottom corner which allows for easy access and keeps the handles away from knife blades when pulling out the knives. I am so happy with this purchase!

The knife block is quite heavy. It was well packaged and there was no shipping damage to the exterior. However, it turns out that the wooden divider between the two bottom slots is missing, possibly due to over routing. Unfortunately, the knife blades can bang into each other. This is most likely a manufacturing defect and I feel someone should have found the problem before shipping along to the retailer. This is not an inexpensive item, and I expected better quality assurance. Otherwise, it is an attractive product that has an advantage over the competition by providing many oversized slots for larger chefs knives.
