Description

The Wusthof Amici 1814 Limited Edition 8" Chef's Knife is the work horse of the kitchen, or the essential kitchen knife. The chef's knife is an indispensable all-purpose kitchen knife that can be used for chopping, mincing, slicing and dicing. Due to the weight and balance of the knife, it is also perfect for heavy duty work such as cutting thicker vegetables and meats.

Designed by a team of experienced Wusthof artisans in Solingen, Germany, this masterpiece of a knife combines the long-lasting durability of a premium forged blade with the magnetic beauty of a centuries-old art form. The stunning artwork on the stainless steel blade was created in collaboration with Dario Cortini, a virtuoso Italian artist and one of the world's few master engravers. Cortini spearheaded the knife's art direction at the internationally famous Bottega Incisioni C. Giovanelli in Brescia, Italy, which for over 60 years has been a workshop, school, and point of origin for master engravers across the globe.

Each Wusthof Amici 1814 Limited Edition 8" Chef's Knife is unique. The elegant, distinct grain of Calabrian olive wood creates an individual pattern on each knife, meaning no two handles are the same. Olive trees are slow growing, with strong wood that is naturally water-repellent and antibacterial. Each olive handle is refined by hand and finished with color-coordinated brass rivets, combining the wood's functional qualities with its exquisite look and feel.

It's easy to spot the extraordinary in the Wusthof Amici 1814 Limited Edition 8" Chef's Knife. The striking engraving on the stainless steel blade, the distinct luxuriousness of the olive wood handles, yet the magic continues in detail that can only be felt. The weight distribution between the blade and the handle is a golden ratio that has been refined by Wusthof artisans for over two centuries. Thanks to the slim half bolster, this limited-edition knife is light, graceful, and comfortable in your hand.

Even without a master engraver's touch, the Amici 1814 blade is a work of art that required experience, expertise and inspiration to create. The special, high-carbon stainless steel formula is exceptionally hard, durable and rust-resistant. Each blade is formed with millimeter precision, then sharpened and polished by hand by skilled knife sharpeners in the cutlery capital of the world: "The City of Blades." Solingen, Germany. The finished knife is unmatched in sharpness and stays sharp for longer. The Wusthof Amici 1814 Limited Edition 8" Chef's Knife is strictly limited to 1,814 unique pieces worldwide.
